UWE International Educational Services (UWEIES) was established in August 2018 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of the West of England, Bristol, with a mission rooted in the university’s vision for global impact. We exist to expand access to high-quality education and to bring the exceptional learning experiences offered by the university to communities internationally. Through collaboration with our partners, we aim to contribute to the development of a global knowledge economy by empowering learners with the skills, competencies, and personal attributes needed to thrive in their professional and personal lives. What do we do
UWEIES connects students across the Asia Pacific region with life-changing educational opportunities at the University of the West of England, Bristol. With an international team based in Malaysia and other countries in the region, we provide on-the-ground support to students pursuing their academic journey in the UK. We achieve this through our dedicated local recruitment teams, strategic partnerships with higher education institutions, and representatives who work closely with the university. UWEIES, which works alongside the university, is committed to advancing the university’s global objectives and expanding its reach to learners worldwide.
English Language Preparation
Achieving the necessary English language proficiency is a vital step before embarking on your main course at UWE Bristol. If you’re not from one of the few exempted countries, you’ll need to provide proof of your English language skills. To help you meet this requirement, UWE International Educational Services (UWEIES) offers a range of tailored solutions, including specialised workshops, English Language Tests (ELT), Pre-Sessional English (PSE) courses, and more. These initiatives are designed to support your journey to UWE Bristol, ensuring you have the language skills needed to succeed in your studies and beyond.
English Language Test (ELT)
UWE Bristol’s English Language Test (ELT) mirrors the format and structure of the IELTS Academic test, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of your English proficiency. The test evaluates all four essential skills – listening, reading, writing, and speaking, providing individual scores for each component and an overall result. Students take the written components, including listening, reading, and writing, using cutting-edge online examination software, which takes approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes. If they successfully meet the entry requirements, they will be invited to participate in a speaking test with one of our experienced examiners. This thorough assessment provides a clear understanding of your language abilities, preparing you for success in your academic journey.
Pre-Sessional English (PSE) courses
Pre-sessional English courses offer the perfect opportunity to enhance your language skills and cultural awareness, ensuring you get the most out of your experience at UWE Bristol. Designed by English language experts with extensive experience teaching in Asia, these courses provide tailored support to help you thrive in a UK academic environment.
